Vladislav Bochan je surrealistický umělec, akcionista a disident z Běloruska. Zúčastnil se výstav v Bělorusku, Rusku a Polsku, z nichž některé byly narušeny policií kvůli jejich politickému obsahu. Od začátku běloruské revoluce v srpnu 2020 se aktivně angažuje v protestním hnutí.
V červenci 2021 byl Bochan obviněn v trestním řízení za „organizování a účast na masových nepokojích" po jeho zapojení do pouličních střetů s policií. Krátce poté se mu podařilo ilegálně uprchnout ze země. Nyní pobývá v Polsku, kde mu byl udělen politický azyl a žije pod mezinárodní ochranou.
V exilu Bochan pokračuje jak ve své umělecké praxi, tak v politickém aktivismu. V Polsku se stal známým řadou významných uměleckých a politických akcí, které zpochybňují autoritářskou moc a zdůrazňují zkušenost s represí.
Před zatčením Bochan mnoho let pracoval jako učitel na veřejné škole, což mu umožnilo hluboce porozumět tomu, jak autoritářské systémy fungují zevnitř. Tyto poznatky se odrážejí v jeho umění, které kriticky zkoumá mechanismy kontroly, indoktrinace a odporu.
Jeho aktuální výstava představuje surrealistický, hluboce osobní výklad života v totalitním režimu - vizuální protest proti útlaku a důkaz odolnosti a svobody projevu.

 

Vladislav Bochan is a surrealist artist, actionist, and dissident from Belarus. He has taken part in exhibitions in Belarus, Russia, and Poland-some of which were disrupted by police due to their political content. Since the beginning of the Belarusian revolution in August 2020, he has been actively engaged in the protest movement.
In July 2021, Bochan was charged in a criminal case for "organizing and participating in mass riots" after his involvement in street clashes with police. Shortly after, he managed to escape the country illegally. He now resides in Poland, where he has been granted political asylum and lives under international protection.
In exile, Bochan continues both his artistic practice and political activism. In Poland, he has become known for a number of high-profile artistic and political actions that challenge authoritarian power and highlight the experience of repression.
Before his arrest, Bochan worked for many years as a public school teacher, an experience that gave him a deep understanding of how authoritarian systems function from within. These insights are reflected in his art, which critically explores the mechanisms of control, indoctrination, and resistance.
His current exhibition presents a surreal, deeply personal interpretation of life under a totalitarian régime - a visual protest against oppression, and a testament to resilience and freedom of expression.
